Ed Bilsky featured in ‘WABI,’ 'Journal Tribune' stories on Sen. King's opioid epidemic panel

Ed Bilsky, Ph.D., vice-president for research and scholarship, was among several panelists featured in WABI and Journal Tribune news stories on a meeting about the recent opioid epidemic in Maine.

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) invited federal leaders including Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) and National Drug Control Policy Director Michael Botticelli. Sen. King invited Bilsky to share his expertise on addiction and groundbreaking research on opioids.  â€œThese are our sons, parents, daughters, they’re human beings,†Bilsky told the group. “We need to keep that in there.â€

“The people in the room got this bigger message that substance abuse and heroin abuse and opioid abuse is a complex problem and requires a comprehensive and multifaceted strategy,†he told the Journal Tribune.
